Early mindful walking with a client this morning through the bluebells, and quite a bit of mud. Walking through the spring flowers, surrounded by bird song was a good way of getting away from discussing work related stress and onto acknowledging the progress that comes from making small shifts in mindset and being and to see thoughts more objectively.
Small changes and a few weeks of coaching has helped move from a place of overwhelm towards being able to see the causes of the stress more objectively, and to end the trauma of internalising the stress and stewing on it all weekend, to a place of relative calm where decisions on how to move forward have been taken rationally and objectively.
It warms my heart to see such huge steps of progress in only a few months, and to see someone living more easily, calmly and so much more able to deflect the stress before it has too much effect.
These are skills that will be taken forward in life to deal with whatever comes next.
The best part of this job is seeing people be able to make tangible lasting change towards being able to see the positives in life as well as dealing more effectively with the negatives, which leads to basically a happier way of living
