Since I started asking everyone to write down what they found most useful about the session, I have learnt a lot.
Some people are grateful to know that their brain is not uniquely disruptive, and that everyone struggles with distraction and negative thinking.
Some people are grateful for some simple strategies to help manage their stress and get to sleep.
Some people are grateful for the understanding of how meditation works and they leave the session determined to use it.
Some people have managed to change their lives for the better just from one session.
To be honest it is hard to walk into a new place with new people and speak about something that many people are cynical about even before I have started. After every session though, the feedback in touching and some people stay behind to thank me repeatedly for coming and talking about this. They tell me how much they needed it, although they had no idea that they needed it. They write to afterwards and tell me how it has helped. And that is why, for the moment, I keep doing it
